Fillipo Gallino Wine
The singularly most exciting aspect to our work is discovering a great wine, finding that it is not imported into the UK and finally learning that the grower is able and willing to sell to you. The wines of Filippo Gallino are a prime example of that rare phenomenon.
A family run domaine, their 13 hectares are now worked organically and yields are carefully controlled. All the grapes are de-stemmed and the wines are fermented in stainless steel. The Barbera Superiore and the Roero Superiore are then transferred into new oak barriques for some 12-14 months. Both these wines are regularly awarded three glasses by the Gambero Rosso – usually in alternate years!
