Chateau Segries Wine
This 17th century property comprising 30 hectares is situated just above the village of Lirac. Owned and run by Henri de Lanzac and his son-in-law. The red Cotes du Rhone Lirac is made from vines averaging 50 years. 100% destemmed and vinifictaion in temperature controlled vats with a maceration of around 21 days. Cepage for the Lirac is 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 20% mixed between Cinsault, Mourvedre and Carignan. The extraordinary Clos de l? Hermitage comes from the celebrated 'quartier de la Chartreuse de Villeneneuve-les-Avignon'. This particular vineyard is owned by the former racing driver Jean Alesi, although the wines are vinified and aged at the Chateau. This cuvee is made in equal part from Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre and aged in barrique, 5% of which are new. The 2001 is quite spectacular.
