A very dusty and exceedingly mature aromas with camphor, eucalyptus, wood spices, creamy oak and smoked meat. Underneath lurks some mature tropical fruit and with time it becomes lightly fishy and smoky. Gorgeously mature!
A soft and gentle opening with granulated sugar coated fleshy apricot. Pleasantly mature and spicy on the middle with some piquant alcohol plus hints of herbs and sweet peat. Very long although the alcohol does mask the finish a little but there’s a lingering medicinalness and a little bitterness from the oak but that is balanced by the sugars. Lovely wood spice and lightly charred wood notes in the after-taste.
Water brings out a gorgeous juicy orange note and emphasises the woody/ crumbly spices. The palate becomes quite milky but the fruit is holding up. In fact it has become more bananary! Wow it’s an Islay Milk Shake! Very long now with a touch of violets, bog myrtle and seaweed, and surprisingly the smoky peat hasn’t disappeared! It’s amazing the magic a little h2o can weave!
