Our wines are dispatched directly from a temperature controlled warehouse and deliveries are carried out by specialist wine couriers, London City Bond.

Wine deliveries normally take one or two working days after dispatch, but can take longer for remote areas of the UK. They can be delivered to a neighbours address or left in a specific safe place around your home if you are out. Your wine can also be delivered to an alternative address such as a work address; just give us seperate delivery and billing addresses at the checkout.

Tasting notes

An excellent well balanced all round wine, with a hint of the firmness which is a characteristic of the Rio Torto wines. But with this exceptional late vintaged 1983 there is little if any of the burnt flavour sometimes associated with that area of the Douro, and the wine is exceptionally fresh and with an excellent bouquet characteristic of all 1983s. Very impressive for its brute strength. Very deep, dark ruby, with a concentrated cassis nose, full-bodied, rich, powerful and overflowing with fruit flavours and hard tannins. Score: 92/100

Showing well at the initial blind tasting in May 1985: rich, fat, attractive. Sweet, agreeble shortly after. Though impressively deep, intense and still youthful looking at Christie's, I found a stalkiness on nose and palate. Score: 3 Stars predict 4 after further ageing
